Saying Goodbye ( (わか) れの (あい) (さつ) Wakare no Aisatsu?) is the 118th Chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga.

Summary[]

The attempt at turning Denji into a weapon turned out to be a complete failure, with Denji being confused by Yoru calling out "Denji Spinal Cord Sword." She tries several other times to transform Denji to no affect, with the boy grabbing her head in return and shouting "Asa Spinal Cord Sword," assuming that it was just a fun way to say goodbye, much to her bewilderment. Asa berates Yoru about trying to transform him into a weapon, with Yoru stating that it should've worked since the two of them hit it off so well. Asa assumes that it didn't work because she believes transforming a living person requires said other person to reciprocate her feelings, likely coming to that conclusion since Tanaka held feelings for her.

Yoru remarks that due to how little sleep they got in the aquarium, she is going to bed. Asa asks about who Fami was, to which Yoru responds that she is the Famine Devil, and it had been such a long time since they last met that she couldn't recognise her, suggesting this is a different incarnation to the one she's familiar with. Yoru advises to stay clear from her due to her craziness, but before Asa could ask why, Yoru passes out. She tries to wake the sleeping devil but to no avail, leaving her to think about Denji, growing more and more irritated at him for seemingly not reciprocating her feelings despite all they did.

The next day, Denji suggests he and Asa attend the local movie theatre's all-night mummy movie marathon for only ¥2000. Asa, still annoyed at him, remarks that it was too expensive for her, and that video rentals would be cheaper. Denji asks if she has a VCR at her place, which she says she doesn't. She asks him if he does and he replies that he does, to which Asa remarks that the date should be held at his place then. Denji is shocked that she wants to come over, with Asa saying that they can always call off the date if he can't do it. He eventually relents, saying that she can come to his house, albeit on the condition that she follows the house rules, ones that she cannot break in the slightest. Asa asks what would happen if she did, to which Denji says that she'd die in the worst case scenario. Asa seems unconvinced, but a nearby Haruka is shown spying on them from a distance, likely still curious about Asa's powers and fully believing Denji's words.
