Sentimental Drive (センチメンタルドライブ Senchimentaru Doraibu?) is the 135th Chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga.
Summary[]
The morning after the Chainsaw Church broadcast, Asa is listening to a news report which brings up doubts that the Church's Chainsaw Man is legitimate. Asa agrees, saying that the Chainsaw Man she knows is crude and idiotic, blushing as she continues her thoughts before she is interrupted by a smug Yoru. She reminds her host that she still has plans to kill him, before asking why she fell in love with him. Asa retorts, saying that she's just grateful that he's saved her life multiple times, although she changes the subject, instead wondering why Yoru is in a chipper mood. The War Devil goes on to state that the Falling Devil's gravitational chaos has caused widespread poverty throughout the world, meaning that they're more likely to go to war. Asa asks her if she's still going after Chainsaw Man even if she regained her powers, to which she says she is, and that Asa should stop thinking about it. However, this only causes Asa to flash back to the fateful night she was saved by him, before her mind begins to craft a sappy, sensual love poem in his honour.
The awkward poem reading is interrupted by Fami suddenly appearing next to them and stealing their loaf of bread. Rather than answer the duo's questioning of how she got there and what she wants, Fami repeatedly asks if she can eat their bread. Upon being granted her request, Fami quicky devours it all with some strawberry jam and then reveals she's here to help the both of them. Whilst Yoru initially wants her to leave, Fami, scouring the fridge for more food, reveals that there's a way to grant both of their desires. She reveals that Chainsaw Man has given up on fighting devils, but due to his heart, he can't be an ordinary human. She reiterates that due to his status, Chainsaw Man is constantly under threat, and that many in the Church want to protect him from Devils themselves. The higher ups in the Church want all devils to be hunted down by civilians to ensure that he doesn't have to fight anymore, causing his power to diminish, with the end result being that Devils would no longer feel the desire to fight him. Asa is then asked to join the Church to aid this plan to help pay back for all the times Chainsaw Man saved her.
Yoru objects, wondering why she should still help, to which Fami reveals a photo of the Chainsaw Devil, pointing out how it's different to the Chainsaw Man that saved them both times; if she were to go along with the plan, she'd be able to kill her true target. Asa still protests, bringing up how Fami was also the orchestrator behind Yuko's attack and the Aquarium incident, as well as, in addition to her leaving the fridge open, how it seems suspicious that they have a fake Chainsaw Man as their church's spokesperson. She responds that the fake is there to divert the Devils' attention to him instead, and that instead of trusting her, she should trust the Church.
At a later date, a news story breaks out about the slaying of the Carpenter Bee Devil in an apartment complex, with the Devil Hunter being a volunteer with no professional record. Said volunteer is also revealed to have been working for the Church, and gained widespread notoriety as this was her tenth slaying this month alone. Said slayer is revealed to be Asa Mitaka, with many people starting to spread rumours that it was actually Asa behind Chainsaw Man's various successes. It's then revealed that an irritated Denji is watching the news broadcast at home, surprised to hear Asa's name on the news.
