Normal Life ( () (つう) () () Futsū no Hibi?) is the 136th Chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga.

Summary[]

Arriving at school, a depressed Denji is approached by a self-styled intellectual student at his locker. After noticing his Chainsaw Man t-shirt, the student berates him, telling him of the theory of how Asa is supposedly responsible for all of his recent heroics, before trying to guilt-trip him into saying that he's supporting a victimizer. Before Denji can respond, another student begins to threaten both him and the other student for insulting Chainsaw Man. Trying to gather his bearings, Denji tries to respond, before the second student hastily punches him. Later at the principal's office, Denji is shown being chastised by the principal, who assumed Denji started the fight due to growing up an orphan. As Denji leaves, the principal remarks that the other student was hospitalized by Denji's "attack."

Later, Denji meets with Yoshida, downplaying the brawl by saying the guy only lost a tooth. Yoshida writes off the fight as an ordinary high school occurrence, which is something he admits he's unfamiliar with as well. He decides to try and cheer Denji up by skipping class with him to visit the movie theatre. At the pictures, Yoshida remarks that they're not having too much fun, with Denji chastising him for talking whilst the movie is on. He then goes on to talk about how there's nobody else at the cinema due to there being an attack from a squid-like Devil, though thanks to the cinema's employed devil hunters, it only took two minutes for there to be respondents to the attack, with seemingly no casualties. He goes on to tell Denji that he's not like a film protagonist and that the world will move on without him regardless of what he does, before the two are interrupted by the entrance of a third person.

Yoshida reveals to Denji that he invited a fellow student who wanted to date him, before leaving the two alone and wishing him luck on the date. Denji asks him if what he experienced today was what it's like to be normal, and after considering it for a while, Yoshida says it is. As the girl sits beside him, Denji begins to ramble about how he's not feeling 100% due to his current circumstances, and that he just wants to be left alone, before being interrupted by his date rubbing his genitals through his clothing. The date is revealed to have an incredibly perverse and twisted expression that is seemingly frozen on her face. Denji, however, doesn't take notice, as he's more focused on the fact that she's groping him.
