Kumbaya (クンバヤ Kunbaya?) is the 145th Chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga.
Summary[]
A member of Public Safety reports in that all Chainsaw Man Church chapters in Japan had been captured, and that they’ve seized their weapons. The man then orders the creation of a victim group for the parents of the minors who were part of the Church, and to then call in the media to exploit the situation. The man then authorises the capture of the War Devil A.K.A. Asa Mitaka, before admitting he hoped she’d have been able to turn Chainsaw Man into a weapon. A lower-ranking member then tells him the Devil Name Consultant wanted to speak with him, before asking what the Church’s plan was. The man guesses that they just wanted to play being Chainsaw Man.
Public Safety are then shown arresting Barem, revealed to be the second-in-command of the Church. Fumiko then asks why shouldn’t he just join Public Safety; after all, they already have Quanxi and Katana Man. Instead of answering, he requests a moment of silence to collect his thoughts; it’s sunset, his favourite time of day.
The Public Safety higher-up from earlier is then shown talking with another figure; the Name Consultant, who reveals that they identified Falling Devil's client as the real Justice Devil. The higher-up asks if it’s not a different Devil instead, but the consultant insists that the Devil is in fact Justice. The consultant then asks whether or not the cultists attributed their contracts to the Justice Devil despite the devil's death, to which the higher-up confirms this to be the case; a cultist was able to become the "Justice" Devil post-Church raid. The consultant then reveals that this means the Devil that has been claiming itself to be the Justice Devil, and the true Justice Devil, aren't one and the same.
Asa and Yoru are watching a live broadcast of the Church’s Okinawa chapter being raided, with the former shocked to learn about the Church's stockpile of illegal weaponry. Both of them hear a knock on the door, followed by an order to surrender, though Asa reveals she has a plan. As the apartment they’re in belongs to her, she can turn it into a weapon, before asking that Yoru takes control of her body afterwards. Impressed, the War Devil compliments her “wild” behaviour, though Asa says it’s her fault she became this way. Asa gets into position and attempts to transform her apartment into a weapon, but before she can finish, a Public Safety agent breaks down her door and charges her.
As the sun finally sets, Barem is then shown singing Kumbaya, praying to God as he’s being arrested. Denji tells Nayuta he’s going to take her home, with Fumiko offering to drop them off. Next we’re then shown that the Public Safety agent that Asa's facing is in fact Yoshida, who managed to slice one of her arms off.
