Devil's Choice ( (あく) () (せん) (たく) Akuma no Sentaku?) is the 149th Chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga.

Summary[]

A preacher begins to gloat about how his predictions of war with Devils was correct, and now he and the rest of humanity needs to go with war with the Chainsaw Man army. Elsewhere, Denji, Nayuta, and Fumiko are hiding away from the protestors. Denji asks if he should turn into Chainsaw Man in case things go wrong, though Fumiko replies that it's a horrible idea; since they'll just become prime targets if Denji transformed, it's her job to protect them. Nayuta refutes her claim, saying she's stronger than her and that she should take care of any problems, including human ones, much to Fumiko's disturbance. She asks Denji what he's been teaching his younger sister, though Denji admits he has just been sitting her in front of the TV and letting the shows teach her.

Denji realises that he and Nayuta have to head home to feed the pets, though a peeved Fumiko tries to dismiss the idea by saying that it had been targeted. Denji and Nayuta persist, though Fumiko reveals that she plans to shelter them at Public Safety's headquarters. Nayuta retaliates by unleashing another chain at Fumiko, missing her, but instead connecting to a nearby bum that then proceeds to strangle the Public Safety officer. Wanting to ensure Fumiko's safety, Denji tickles Nayuta from behind, causing her to drop the chain and therefore causing the homeless man to lose his aggression. He then orders Fumiko to run, knowing that if she stayed then his sister would kill her.

After she leaves, Denji asks Nayuta in disbelief if she really tried to kill her. Nayuta tries to shrug it off, saying that the killing of all life is a part of a Devil's nature, and that due to his nature Denji enjoys harming others too. She then asks him to join her side with the Devils, saying that should Devils rule the world, they'd be able to achieve any freedom they desired without any of the limitations that society binds them by. Denji asks about what would happen to their school friends, though she retorts that they don't matter, upsetting him greatly.

Noticing his dishevelled expression, Nayuta realises that Denji is thinking of Asa, asking why he cares so much about her, with him simply replying that it's because they kissed. Taken aback, Nayuta asks why a single kiss matters so much, to which he points out how every other kiss he had with a woman up until he kissed her went horribly wrong. Nayuta then asks plainly if he likes her, to which he signs a fair amount. She then asks how much he likes her, with Denji gesturing a much greater amount. Satisfied with his answer, Nayuta abandons her plans of conquering humanity, and instead beckons Denji to head home with her.
