Chapter 156

Whup Whup Whup Whup Bzzz Split Split (ババババヴヴヴヴバラバラ, Babababa vuvuvuvu barabara^?) is the 156th Chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga.

Summary[]

Waking up to the sight of more Fire Devil attacks and a nearby helicopter, Denji hallucinates Nayuta laying on his chest before Yoshida snaps him back to reality. Denji asks him what happened to Nayuta, but he tells him he doesn't know either. Enraged, the Hybrid tries to get out of bed, but he's informed that he hasn't walked for about a week, so any effort to move is futile. Yoshida then goes on to say that he tried his best to "dumb down" his explanation of the consequences to Denji, but now that he broke the rules, he can't help him.

Leaving the room, he tells other members of Public Safety - including Fumiko - that he's drugged Denji. The woman asks Yoshida if Public Safety really will dismember him. When Yoshida confirms it, she eagerly asks if she can grab some fingernails and hairs from his body, as the Japanese government will likely seize the rest of his body after they're done with it. When Yoshida asks if she's truly a fan, she replies that she's a 'collector', brandishing a pair of tweezers.

While unconscious, Denji has another vision of Pochita. He tells him they have to get up and save Nayuta. The Devil asks him how he intends to do so when he doesn't have legs.

Denji is then shown strapped on an operating table, one leg already amputated. Surgeons remove the next leg - labelled "Right Leg 26" - before one turns to a Public Safety member on guard and tells him off for smoking. He then asks the member to leave, though the man clarifies he's there to ensure Chainsaw Man is killed should he try to escape. It's revealed that the place Denji is being held is the Tokyo Devil Detention Center, and due to its maximum security, no Devil has ever managed to get out. The center has even come up with a contingency plan in case Denji escapes, meaning that it would take a war to get him out, as a single person is shown standing outside.

Denji's leg being labelled "Right Leg 26" implies that he's still regenerating his limbs whilst being unconscious.
