Chapter 173

Hard of Hearing (少 (すこ) し聞 (き) こえてる, Sukoshi Kikoe Teru^?) is the 173rd Chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga.

Summary[]

A montage is shown of people and animals reacting to the sudden absence of ears. In a Public Safety stronghold. A representative alerts a group of seated men that the erased Devil was the Ear Devil. The men don't seem to react, to which she responds by asking them to confirm whether or not they've heard of ears before. Their lack of response confirms the representative's suspicions, and she informs her higher ups.

Three Public Safety members are then shown standing in a restroom; each of them cutting off a fingertip each. Uttering out "cervical spine," "neck" and "vertebrae," they use their fingertip to paint the word "hit" on the restroom mirrors. A Devil in Hell is then shown reading the message. Sighing, they lift their fist near a projected mirror. Pochita, now attempting to consume the next Devil head, is interrupted by a giant fist striking them. This attack doesn't go unpunished, however, as he quickly slices off two of the Devil's fingers. He is, however, interrupted by Yoshida, who summons the Octopus Devil to restrain him. The Devil comments that the human is doing a good job, before constricting Pochita enough to force him to spit out the Ear Devil's head; restoring everyone's ears in the process.
