Ayyy, Aging (おーい () Ōi oi?) is the 174th Chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga.

Summary[]

Several Japanese politicians are gathered together in a courtyard, including the current prime minister of Japan, Kentaro Ishita. Reading through a transcript, he asks for confirmation about whether the Ear Devil's erasure actually occurred. Hadaji Sakagami - the Minister of Communication and Internal Affairs - confirms this. Shin Toma, the Minister of Defence asks the Public Safety Devil Hunters representative, who is revealed to be Fumiko Mifune, how they can use this power of erasure for good. She explains how humans can evolve using these powers by erasing anything that stands in the path of progress. When asked for clarification, she explains that Public Safety currently has a positive relationship with the Aging Devil, and it's willing to be erased by the Chainsaw Devil.

Chief Cabinet Secretary - Yuki Tomoda - asks about the negative side effects, though Fumiko handwaves these concerns by saying how the absence of ears didn't suddenly erase the existence of ear-related paraphernalia like cell-phones or radios. Tomoda calls this whole thing messy, to which Fumiko agrees, she says that's exactly why they're keeping Chainsaw Man’s chaos under control. Toma asks what the Devil's terms of the offer are. Fumiko reveals that the Aging Devil wants 10,000 Japanese citizens aged between infancy and nine years of age to be executed in front of a mirror. Most of the men are startled, but as Fumiko tries to pressure them into agreeing with the terms, the Former Minister of Finance Tadashi Hasegawa gives the plan the go-ahead. He explains his grandson is rounding up orphans as they speak. He then commands Miki Takanashi - the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry - to make up the rest of the numbers by granting citizenship to any refugee children his agents could find. As soon as Takanashi protests, Hasegawa threatens to have his four children be included in the 10,000, at which the Minister of Industry relents.

Hasegawa tells Fumiko that the children will be assembled within 48 hours, and that she should give Public Safety a confirmation. As she goes to call them, however, she realizes something is off; now everyone's mouths are gone. A scene is shown of animals and people without mouths, and it's revealed that not only has the Chainsaw Devil erased the concept of mouths, but he has also erased the concepts of snow, octopi, and bitterness.
