Chainsaw Man Wiki

The Bereft ( (うしな) った (もの) (たち) Ushinatta Monotachi?) is the 219th Chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga.

Summary[]

Yoru gains enough time to regenerate and fires a shot into Pochita's chest. In the dreamscape, Asa scolds Denji for screwing up and tells him she can't help him anymore, but Denji insists that it was Pochita's doing, not his. Recalling the Fire Devil's ultimatum, he realizes that Pochita is trying to warn him not to side with either Yoru or Death, as the victory of either would cost him his chance at a normal life. Denji tells Asa that he intends to create a new world for both of them, and she sheds a tear as she sees him - no longer a child and dressed once more in his school uniform - reach out his hand to her. She admits that she wants to join him but believes she cannot, as she's half-devil and threatens his ideal life. Denji reassures her that she’s just like him, and if her devil half gets in the way, he'll deal with it himself.

Yoru manages to reattach Death's head before her powers can activate, chastising Pochita for not killing "discriminately." Death thanks Yoru, saying she would rather not die because she wanted to attend the school festival. Seeing this as a sign of weakness, Yoru declares that, since she saved her sister's life, Death now belongs to her. She mocks Death for caring about humanity, claiming her change of heart weakened her and although she considers her a disgrace amongst the sisters, that very weakness also makes her the perfect candidate to become her next weapon. As Death screams in agony during the transformation, the process is halted before it was completed, as both Yoru's arm and Death are sliced apart by Pochita, who then consumes Death. Yoru pleads with him not to swallow her sister, but it's too late, as he gulps her down completely, leaving Yoru trembling and barely able to utter her sister's name. Enraged at losing Death and failing to prove her superiority, Yoru screams Chainsaw Man’s name as he prepares to face her once more.
