Chainsaw Man Wiki

A Curse and a First ( (のろ) いと (はじ) めて Noroi to Hajimete?) is the 56th chapter of the Chainsaw Man manga series.

Summary[]

The group all wait within a burger restaurant, as Denji and Power eat. Power offers Denji her vegetables, however Kusakabe interrupts, ordering her to finish them for her health. The others agree, as Denji forces them into her mouth. Power begins to sweat, choking down vomit. In the fervor, the woman from the forest walks past the table.

Power, in frustration, runs outside, as the rest decide to follow. The woman sits at a table with Tolka, revealing she stabbed Denji with a nail three times in order to invoke the Curse Devil, and that only one more poke is required. She entrusts the final poke to Tolka, as she begins to eat a burger. Though she struggles due to her numb hand and weak senses, she is delighted by the experience.

Elsewhere, Violence Fiend and Kobeni walk outside, as she thanks him for purchasing her an ice cream cone. Questioning his role as the Violence Fiend - given his friendliness - he explains that he still has a lot of his human brain, meaning he still holds a lot of early memories. However, he has no memories of his death, only that he was saved by Makima. Suddenly, a car pulls up besides them, and the Eldest Brother - disguised as Kurose - gets out. He yells at the two to report Tendo and Subaru's deaths, before quietly commenting on their gullibility.

Later, Denji and Power sit, exhausted after a day of constant movement. Denji bitterly comments that rather than being protected, he is being used as bait to draw out the threats, which Aki confirms. He promises Denji his trip, calming him, however Power is still furious. Aki promises her one reward for her cooperation, with her requesting to drain a human of their blood to the point they die. Aki pauses, and then agrees to let her drain Denji. Denji protests, but is quickly silenced by Power jumping on his shoulders and shouting "Wooo-Hoooo!!"

Trivia[]

  • A sign in this chapter displays "Tatsuki Tatsuta", which could be a pun as Tatsuta is a Japanese-style fried chicken burger and also a nod to Tatsuki Fujimoto.
