Summary[]
Denji stares at the television, gripping the side of its frame with his hand as a pair of girls are shown holding up a sign on it. He exclaims that everyone was praising him before holding a hand up to his face, holding back tears as he shouted that he was popular, watching as a girl on the screen waved a sign asking for Chainsaw Man to go out with her. Denji grabs both sides of the television before pressing his face directly against the screen, sobbing about how popular he was. Kobeni watches Denji's breakdown as she sits against a nearby wall, her expression a mix of pity and fright.
Sitting back in the armchair behind Denji, Kishibe opens his eyes before telling Denji to quiet down, prompting him to look back over his shoulder at Kishibe. Denji tells him that he was tired of eating things like bread and jam for breakfast, and instead wanted to eat steak everyday in its place. He cries about how he can't and shouldn't wish for such things as he collapses onto his hands and knees in front of Kishibe, saying how he wanted five, then ten girlfriends, and that he wants to have lots of sex. Denji slowly pulls himself back up onto his knees before exclaiming that he wanted to be Chainsaw Man for those reasons. Kishibe sits silently for a moment before telling Denji that Makima would find and kill him if he attracted too much attention, telling him that the next time he entered his hybrid form would be the time she would kill him. Denji slowly looks down at the ground with tears falling from his face.

At some point later in the night, Denji continues to watch the television as Kishibe and Kobeni sleep, watching as a video of him in his hybrid form killing a devil plays on the screen. He tells himself that he definitely wanted to become Chainsaw Man, and asks himself how he was going to kill Makima. He knows that she wasn't someone he could win against without a plan, and tries to think about some way he could defeat her. His mind is soon filled with memories of his time with Public Safety as he thinks back on the encounter with the Darkness Devil, his first time meeting Beam, and his fight against Santa Claus' dolls as well as her subsequent defeat.
Denji's mind is then filled with memories of Makima, with images of her face appearing from when she told him she'd grant any wish if he killed the Gun Devil, when she introduced him to her pet dogs, when she laughed in his lap after he asked if her killing Power was a dream, when she fed him her blood during the fight against Santa Claus, when she listened to his heart, when she told him what he would be able to eat for breakfast if he become her dog, when she licked a sucker before giving it to him as an indirect kiss, and when she told him that she liked someone like a boy named Denji. Denji looks down in defeat, muttering to himself that he was the worst, and that even after everything Makima had done to him, he still couldn't help but like her.
“Denji” Perched on a Cross
At some point in the future during the daytime, Denji in his hybrid form sits upon a cross in what appears to be a graveyard, with Makima, Katana Man, Reze, Quanxi, the Whip Hybrid, the Spear Hybrid, Miri Sugo, Barem Bridge, and several dozen members of Public Safety walking up to him along a dirt path. The Public Safety members are all moving synchronously, likely under Makima's control. Makima walks up to Denji, believing he was Chainsaw Man as she takes note of his weaker form before asking if he came to finally die for her. Denji gets up from the cross before asking Makima if there would be any crappy movies in her vision of a utopian world, prompting her to come to the realization that it was Denji she was speaking to, and not Chainsaw Man. She responds that she believed it would be for the best if bad movies were erased from the world. Denji says that he had no choice but to kill her. Makima sighs before telling Denji that everything about him, from his form to his speech, was not fit for Chainsaw Man. She says that she found it disagreeable. Four crows are shown flying up into the sky, with three of them having taken off from their perch of a respective cross. Denji spins up his chainsaws, facing Makima as she approaches him along with the hybrids and the many members of Public Safety.
