Appearance[]
The Mannequin Devil's true form is described as a tiny, battered doll binded together with black feathers. When using its powers, it can mimic the likeness of anyone that touches one of its blank mannequin host bodies.[1]
Personality[]
Although not much is known about the Mannequin Devil's personality, it is shown to be sadistic and deceiving when attacking Kishibe, Quanxi, and Minami using their likeness for its mannequin hosts. It harbors a strong desire to copy the appearances of those who come into physical contact with them.
History[]
Nine Years' Savior[]
The Mannequin Devil resided inside an abandoned factory, where a couple of children reported that they heard its inhumane voice within the darkness of the area. On Minami's first Devil hunting mission with Kishibe and Quanxi, the three were sent to hunt it down. When entering the factory, the Devil Hunters discovered multiple abandoned mannequins lying around the area. One of the mannequins attempts to attack Minami but is swiftly knocked down by Quanxi despite having changed its likeness to that of Minami's.
It is revealed that the Mannequin Devil had fled into one of its mannequin hosts, this time taking on the appearance of Quanxi due to her touching the Devil when destroying one of its bodies. It then attacks Kishibe and manages to brutally wound Minami using Kishibe's likeness to lure her into a false sense of security.
Kishibe and Quanxi both learn that the Mannequin Devil can control many mannequins that it possesses, as well as gaining the abilities and thoughts of those who have touched them. The Mannequin Devil decides to use Kishibe's likeness on its mannequins to finish off the duo as it is unable to fully mimic Quanxi. Quanxi then swiftly defeats all mannequin doppelgangers around the area, with Kishibe barely managing to defend himself in the crossfire. Afterward, the Mannequin Devil's true form is revealed and is slain by Quanxi herself, ending the threat.[2]
Abilities[]
As a Devil, the Mannequin Devil possesses all of the standard devil abilities. It is capable of possessing multiple mannequins it chooses to control, and can jump from mannequin to mannequin host to prevent itself from getting killed if one of its bodies end up being destroyed.
- Mannequin Mimicry: As opposed to turning people into dolls like that of Santa Claus, the Mannequin Devil's main ability involves transforming mannequins into doppelgangers of anyone who had touched it. Using those bodies, it can not only mimic the appearance of its original target but also copy their abilities and read their thoughts to some extent.[3]
