Takagi (
Appearance[]
Takagi appears to be a middle aged Japanese man dressed in standard issue Public Safety attire. His hair is trimmed short and neatly, with only a short tuft of hair coming down the left side of his fringe. His most notable feature is the stitched arc-shaped scar that wraps from his forehead, down his left eye and stopping short from the top of his lip. His intact eye is rather drowsy in appearance with notable eyebags, suggesting that the recent Devil attacks have taken a toll to his health.
Personality[]
Takagi is shown most in his element whenever he believes he has control over a situation and can order other, more powerful people to do his bidding in order to keep his hands clean. Without this control, his instinct is to either retreat and recuperate, or to violently snap.
His most notable trait is his relationship with his wife, whom had been transformed into a Pseudo-Chainsaw Man thanks to a Fire Devil contract. Despite claiming to love her and viewing her as a symbol of all that's good in the world, he still went behind her back and cheated on her, even dismissing his actions as not being severe due to how the affair only lasted half a year. In addition to how he treats his wife, he also appears to treat women as lesser beings, as his dying words implied he was about to say something sexist due to Quanxi's disobedience.
In spite of his "devotion" to his wife, he appears to be fairly apathetic to the suffering of others: he didn't object to any of Denji's organ harvesting despite how much pain it would've caused the boy, and when he found out his wife was turned into a devil, he instead wished his ornery neighbour should've transformed instead.
Plot[]
History[]
At some point in his life, Takagi joined Public Safety as a member of Special Division 7. He also had cheated on his wife by having an affair with another woman that lasted for six months.
Current arc[]
Takagi is assigned to guard Denji when he is imprisoned at the Tokyo Devil Detention Center one week after Public Safety's battle against the Chainsaw Man Church. When hearing news of Asa and Fami storming the facility to rescue Denji, Takagi decides to send some of Special Division 7's members to stop them.[1]
Asa and Fami's group find Takagi standing next to a containment room filled with Pseudo-Chainsaw People. Takagi questions them of their origins in an attempt to distract them. Takagi also admits to Asa and Yoru that the only wrong thing he did in his life was cheat on his wife for six months. Upon realizing that Takagi was distracting them all along, Yoru dropkicks Fami twice out of harm's way from Katana Man and the Nail Fiend entering the scene.[2]
During this confrontation, Takagi orders the duo to kill the intruders but Asa manages to persuade the latter two to form a temporary truce with her group. Irritated by this, Takagi threatens Katana Man and Nail by using their personal goals as leverage should they disobey his orders. Despite hearing his threats, the two decide to betray Public Safety, forcing him to flee as he tells the others he'll send someone else to face them.[3]
Takagi is killed by his Pseudo-Chainsaw wife.
When the group discovers that Chainsaw Man's identity is none other than Denji, Takagi confronts them with Quanxi. He then orders Quanxi to kill the ragtag group. Quanxi manages to overpower Asa and Fami's group but stops upon seeing Denji's disembodied head. Takagi yells at her to continue with the attack, but she reveals she was warned by an old friend not to hurt Denji.
This causes Takagi to snap about how he can't trust any of the Divisions in Public Safety. He attempts to threaten Quanxi with ditching her girlfriends' bodies in a ditch rather than handing them to her if she disobeys him. Before she can contemplate further, the agent is struck down by his Fire Devil-transformed wife, who was freed earlier by Katana Man. Takagi's corpse is then devoured by his Pseudo-Chainsaw wife.[4]
Abilities[]
Unlike the other Special Division 7 members (excluding Fumiko), Takagi doesn't possess any unique abilities that makes him stand out nor does he present any physical prowess when encountering Asa and Fami's group. Due to being a normal human being, Takagi prefers to run away from fights he cannot win as a result.

Takagi is a fairly simplistic surname, composing of the characters for "tall" (高 taka) and "tree" (木 gi).
