Tanabe is an average man who normally dresses in the standard Public Safety uniform.[1]

Plot[]
Bomb Girl arc[]
Tanabe is first seen at the Anti-Devil 2nd Division's Training Facility, while Reze is attacking the facility. Tanabe along with Kato are the first ones to try and stop her. Using their devil contract they grow mold inside her heart and intestines, causing internal bleeding.[2] Reze however blows her head off and throws it into the facility, where she regenerates. Her original headless body runs at them and causes an explosion, killing him.[3]

- Mold Devil Contract: Tanabe had a contract with the Mold Devil for an unknown price. By biting his hand, drawing blood, and pointing at a target, Tanabe could cause mold to grow inside their organs, causing internal bleeding.[4] The mold is only effective against living beings.[5] Even if the target has regenerative abilities, the mold will not go away, however it is possible to get rid of the mold by amputating the affected flesh.
